The last few weekends were very chilly with occasional snowfalls. I did not get much chance to go outside. I was going through some of the unprocessed pictures. This one is of the Brecksville swamp taken recently with a K10D. The swamp looks so colorful during summer months. And what a contrast during winter time!
So it is back to cold temperature coupled with moderate snowfall again in NE Ohio. One of my friends asked me about the picture of the train on the blog banner. I am posting the original picture that I took a few weekends ago. This is one of the Cuyahoga valley scenic railroad trains that runs on weekends. The temperature is holding up. That is good news. It feels like spring. Now I guess I should start thinking about summer to expedite the whole process! Here is a shot of the swamp at Brecksville reservation. I call it our backyard as this is the most visited place in the park by my family.
Guess what - yesterday I prayed hard for Spring and today the local weatherstation reported 60F. Who says prayers do not work ? Or wait ….. is it global warming? Eh - whatever!! I am not complaining. The snow started melting. Other than that nothing much is going outside.
I was searching for a subject for photography - indoor photography. Nothing serious though. The doggies and the cat ran away to the basement the moment they saw me with the camera. I found that we had some gerbera daisies that I bought for my wife last weekend. Voila, its macro time! I put an extension tube on my 28mm prime and took few shots using a Dell notebook screen as the background. The flash was off camera.
Winter time can be a bit boring for many of us as most everything including the vast green fields of the Cuyahoga Valley park is covered with same white snow and the tree branches are devoid of leaves. Well, I guess it is a good time to practice B&W photography. Do you crave for color during winter as a photographer, as an outdoor person? I do. Here is a picture of the Brecksville swamp shot during last summer. When I feel depressed, I look at these pictures with all the vibrant colors. That is my therapy for SAD.
My wife is a dog trainer. So our dogs know a few amazing tricks. Here one of our dogs Katy is posing on a command from my wife while she photographs the dogs. What am I doing? Hey, you know the answer to that.
And these are the photos I am talking about. Nice doggy models - aren’t they ? Katy is on the left and Ellie is on the right.
It is very cold in North East Ohio right now. We get plenty of snowfall during winter months and the season lasts up to March-April. Sometimes people get frustrated by the gloomy skies and complain about lack of outdoor activities. Its true that everything is covered with snow. However, few brave hearts still venture out in the parks and try to maximize whatever Mother Nature has to offer to them. Last weekend was chilly yet sunny. My wife and I decided to take our two dogs out in the park. We live adjacent to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and go to the park whenever we get a chance. The dogs got some exercise and we took some pictures.
